How to Make a Spatula

This course is designed for beginning woodworkers or those new to hand tools. You don’t need many tools or much experience to successfully make a spatula. However, you will gain great insight into the tools and how to work wood in the process of making it.

Here are the tools and equipment you will need:

  • Pencil
  • Tape Measure
  • Coping Saw and/or 1″ (25mm) Chisel and Mallet/Chisel Hammer
  • Spokeshave
  • Brace and ¾” (19mm) Bit or Drill Driver and ¾” (19mm) Bit (all optional)
  • Rasp and File (optional)
  • Handsaw or Tenon Saw (this is only necessary if you need to cut your wood to size and/or use the ‘stop-cut’ method to cut out the shape)
  • Sandpaper
  • Spatula Template
  • Scissors (if using template)
